I had no idea there was any of this mead left because it wasn't very good the last time I tried it about 7 years ago.

Pretty good now.

I'm hoarding the last couple bottles of two batches I made in 2007. Sofa king good now.

No, just dumb luck on my part with the first two batches I ever made. A raspberry and a blackberry melomel.

cool

my '07 Falls Bounty was great until 2 years ago when it hit a tipping point, and wasn't getting better but worse, so it got drank up (all of 4 bottles)

It helps that both are over 16% ABV, plenty of aging possible.

I'm going to look around for more. There used to be a case under the stairs...

Well, I got pretty excited because I found a case with seven bombers under the stairs.  The label inside said "Peach Mel" and was pitched in 2004 and bottled in 2005.  Alas, it was not the same brew.  Looking at the tasting notes on the recipe sheet in the box reminded me that this peach was BAD when bottled. Not infected or anything, just gross from the peaches.  Now all these years later it's actually drinkable.  Still smells strange - maybe like peach pits or something - but it tastes pretty good, and it's about 14% alcohol, too.  I left the other six under the stairs, though.

I guess that original pure honey mead is now gone. :(
