No, just dumb luck on my part with the first two batches I ever made. A raspberry and a blackberry melomel.

my '07 Falls Bounty was great until 2 years ago when it hit a tipping point, and wasn't getting better but worse, so it got drank up (all of 4 bottles)

It helps that both are over 16% ABV, plenty of aging possible.

Well, I got pretty excited because I found a case with seven bombers under the stairs. The label inside said "Peach Mel" and was pitched in 2004 and bottled in 2005. Alas, it was not the same brew. Looking at the tasting notes on the recipe sheet in the box reminded me that this peach was BAD when bottled. Not infected or anything, just gross from the peaches. Now all these years later it's actually drinkable. Still smells strange - maybe like peach pits or something - but it tastes pretty good, and it's about 14% alcohol, too. I left the other six under the stairs, though.
I guess that original pure honey mead is now gone.

ive still got some of that in bulk, like 3 galsgreen board Fall's Bounty group brew?
