Cool, it starts out great. He is at Orchestra right now, but definitely going to check listen to it. Jack White interview with Zane Lowe dropped 12 days ago, it is great.

Acoustic electric bases are fun

Back on topic, he has been saving up for a used acoustic bass. Says it will make practicing in his dorm room easier and he loves the way they sound with someone playing acoustic guitar.

Acoustic basses are a lot of fun.

It's been a pretty busy month in pedal world. It'll take a while to get caught up but this one is a bit of a whale:

IMG-9692.jpg

They ain't getting any cheaper and I ain't getting any younger, the wait list is 4 years long if you got your name on it 4 years ago. It's almost 10 years in you put your name in today. This one is from 2010-2011 (plastic cliff jacks) and is high gain modded on both sides. Totally lives up to the hype. I'll rock it for while and then probably list it. I have something else in the pipeline.

On a side note my CS Strat is going in to get plek'ed today plus a full setup for light gauge strings (I use stringjoy broadway extra lights). Looking forward to that as well.

I do too, like, too much. This landed yesterday

IMG-9719.jpg

It's the best FF circuit I've ever played, not like that's saying much but I've played my share of BC108's and 109's and my buddy's Red Dot NKT, and I think I'm a germanium guy. I have a couple sunbenders on order too, one of them with the OG mullards ($$) I feel like those pedals will fetch red dot and white dot pricing when the ###### supply ends.

Lol, it censored shorthand for transistor

My original tube order from march arrived yesterday, almost two months later to the day. Not bad considering the escalating humanitarian crisis/war in the very region these things are made. This is what $360 looks like:

IMG-9806.jpg

Pretty crazy, prices are about twice that now just two months later. I did some serious NOS hunting on ebay a couple months back for triplicates, I should be set for my one amp for the next 10-15 years. Might put a hold on my amp build project for now, we'll see.

In other analogman news:

A red one popped up and I had to have it. Very recent serial # Gonna flip the og purple one so I can live lol.

I'm not sure you want to know lol! $700

Basically a decent used guitar or higher end budget guitar like one of the korean gretsches, I know it's stupid.

I think about this way: what you have is a two in one OD/Boost pedal that I would consider to be top of it's class in both categories. A decent new boost like the benson germ boost is $200, and a nice BB style OD like say a KT Heavyhand is almost $300, so if you bought those two pedals to do what one KoT does you're already most of the way there in terms of cost. The build quality and sound of the analogman is second to none, and I played a ton of different pedals. But it all depends on what gear you want to have your money in. As crazy as it sounds I have several even more expensive pedals.

Oh I get it… that’s why I’m tempted. I really need to start playing more again. But I want this pedal for when I do. Lemme look around and see what kind of money I can scare up

NFDP!!

Five mullards and a BART:

IMG-9842.jpg

I think that scratches my Analogman itch, I do want a sunlion someday though lol. I'll say the IV with the 3 NOS mullards is the most incredible and vocal sounding fuzz in my collection. Also the most expensive so there's that. The 1.5 is a unique circuit. I assumed it would dethrone my Thorpy Boneyard so I could sell that and recoup some serious $, but it's not quite there. I'm going to play it more before making a decision but I may just move it on if it doesn't click. The boneyard was an instant killer so we'll see.

Traded a guitar I didn’t like into GC and got an Orange micro dark and a few Ernie Ball braided cables. I’ll report back after I’ve had a chance to run it a bit.

Early impression is, this thing sounds great. Tried it with my Les Paul and USA Strat (both have SD buckers) and it just sounds great with no pedals in front of it, probably be sweet with an OD boost tho. There is a ton of gain but it’s not over the top, very distorted but still musical. Using it with my Marshall 2x12 with Super 65’s (16 ohm) and it’s fecking LOUD, tons of headroom.

I’ll see what I can do when I get home. I suppose I can do a little OD side by side with this, the Klon KTR, and my 83 Tube Screamer. I have a Soul Food too but it’s being demoed by a coworker at the moment
