I'm at a turning point. I haven't picked up my guitar in over a year but 2 out of the past 3 nights i dreamed about playing guitar. I need to decide once and for all if it's acceptable for me to spend a bunch of time on something I'm not naturally good at...

I don’t think it’s very common for someone to just pick up a guitar and be good at it immediately. It involves hundreds and thousands of hours to get good. The natural talent for music has more to do with your ear and listening. The physical act of playing the instrument takes lots of practice

It doesn't take that long to get the muscle memory for chords.  It does take a bit to move fluidly between them, but get the basic open chords down and you can at least play along with songs.  Doing that makes it much more enjoyable that just practicing solo, and doing so will get those chord changes down faster.  Then you hit the point where you can play rhythm to most songs fairly easily, and can then diverge into learning more complex chords and rhythms, or learn some lead stuff, or a mix of both.  That's when it REALLY becomes fun (you're addicted).

Just throwing this in this thread, I'll start a new thread for this when we do the official launch. If you look back, I've mentioned the guitars that my buddy and I are working on. Got some good news in the mail. We got the patent on the bridge system. All 8 features.

Today, I'm finishing up two more of the bodies that are of our own shape. I have 5 sets of hardware at the chrome shop. They will get these 5 bodies painted later this week or early next week and they should be gassed off and ready to wet sand and polish at the end of the month. From there we get pictures and advertising done and all the social media names locked up. Official launch should be in March.

These are dangerous times. I was at the guitar shop for a meeting yesterday. With the shut down and the business closed, we got to spend some extra time instead of the hurried meetings we normally have. Too much time. I walked out with one like this. https://reverb.com/i...demon-1960s-red

Mine is a two pick up model. Case queen. Someone bought it in 1963 and played it very little.  The frets look unused and there are only a couple of small dings. Absolutely a wonderful guitar.

I'll take your Gretsch!

Kinda looking for a 50's archtop ( or earlier) that I can slap a P-90 in the neck for a swing blues guitar.

maybe something like Chris Corcoran's Framus

maxresdefault.jpg

He uses 15's on that thing lol.

It doesn't have a truss rod so in order to not snap the neck with the tension from the 15's he has to capo the first fret!
