I'm making starters for a double brew day on Monday. I can't find my Wyeast Nutrient. I was looking through my crap and I have a bottle of powdered yeast energizer. It's the stuff you add to mead and wine must to keep the fermentation going strong.

Think this is a decent substitute for the yeast nutrient? I'm using pruified water so it's a lot lower in minerals and softer than my tap water.

Cheers!

I mean I don't think it will hurt anything, right? It has diammonium phosphate, yeast hulls, magnesium sulfate, and vitamin B complex in it.

It's probably fine.  I would guess it's been 30 years since I've used any.

Go Ferm for rehydrating.  won't hurt if adding energizer to your starter.

Yeah, that's what I figured. It doesn't have the nitrogen that's in the nutrient, but it does have some stuff that the yeast like. Starters are doing well. Gonna crash them tonight and double up Saturday afternoon.
