Ok, bought my first turkey burner in 2003 and the only thing I have ever used it for was brewing...
...until last night. In a pinch, needed to deep fry 2 turkeys instead of one. (First time I've ever done it, 'twas tasty!) At this point, it was only used in brewing to heat up water, I have several vessels available, but I'm guessing I should retire it from even that after a good seasoning in peanut oil last night. Right?!?

DG - were it me, i'd retire said Al pot and get a new one.

Under high heat, the oil could impregnate itself into the metal, and could be next to impossible to remove, even with extensive cleaning.  Not worth ruining a future batch of beer, IMO.

That said, now you have 2 Al pots, should you need to fry 2 of something at the same time.  :D

Back in the day I did that several times.  A good detergent wash and maybe PBW too.  A few days dry to re-establish the oxide layer.  The beers I made after the deep fry were fine.  When I went to 10 gallon batches smaller kettle was reserved for seafood boils and deep frying.

I should have been clearer, I DID do 2 at one time. My original al pot, and an identical al pot that a buddy gave me several months ago. It was an extra for him, but I know he fried in it, so that one was already earmarked for cooking only.

It's not like I desperately need the al pot, I have a converted Euro keg as a full time HLT, and a converted sanke that is a HLT/ 5 gallon boil pot to feed a 20 gallon mega pot. The al pot was usually called into service on double brew days to feed the sanke. No big deal.
