GuysPlease see this thread in the beer forum and vote to help me gauge interest in the idea. We can have special titles for the wine and mead guys if appropriate.

Sounds like a bad idea.My case, I'm a veteran brewer of cider. Lots of batches. Nobody on this board has ever tasted my cider and probably never will, so I can't imagine how I would ever be deemed a "Master Brewer".If I know my answers in the WM&C forum will likely be discounted due to lack of status, I won't feel that attempting to help will be worth my time. I just don't see any need to foster snobishness and division in this fashion.Just let the reputaions happen naturally.edit: overly wordy

Well George,Since you closed the beer one before I had a chance to comment...Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a nationally administered test that gauges you on:technical details, history of brewing, recipe formulation, identification of faults by actual taste as well as wording on a multiple guess questions, verifies your ability to properly analyze and evaluate a beer, mead or cider.oh wait, there is...BJCP.If there is a group putting on a test preparation course in your area, commit yourself for the 12 or so classes it takes to complete it. You will learn a bunch!Anyway, to those who made judge: congratulations. But I still think the idea of elevated status or guru group membership on this board is a bad idea.
