Que?

If the kitchen is clean, MS. Stain doesn't want to use to, I suppose some sort of fear of making it dirty, or having to clean it again.  Stain, OTOH, views it as an opportunity to try some shit out.

I love a clean kitchen but only after I've cooled up something good.

exactly.  to mrs. stain, a clean kitchen is an accomplishment.  To me, it's preparation. :D

It's like not wanting to play a freshly tuned guitar.

Ever notice that the person who cleans the kitchen is the one who has a tantrum because someone else futzes it up? :D I love to cook and futz up the kitchen. But I always, always clean it. And I mean clean it. Wash the dishes, get them into the dishwasher, wipe down the counters, clean up the stovetop, use some Barkeepers Friend on the SS sink, etc. I like to futz it up and clean it up!

I clean it up most of the time -- but sometimes, I cook and drink too much and there's a mess left over for the next day, and I don't always clean it as quickly as my wife thinks it should be cleaned, so she gets all pissy and cleans it "for me".... :P

This is the nature of human interaction. Of course you could say to your wife, "I know I left a mess in the kitchen and *I* will clean it up!" but that may not be enough. :P
